The invitation

That grey-looking mug might be green after all. Put a leaf or a book beside it and look again. Find three greens and give them whatever names make sense to you. A list is fine.

First step

Look for three green things nearby and give each shade a different description.

A pale new leaf, the dark green cover of a book, and my mug. I'd have called the mug grey yesterday. Next to the leaf it's definitely got a green thing going on.

Turned a leaf over after reading your grey-green description. The underside is much paler and dustier than the top. My three greens are now the book cover, leaf top, and leaf bottom.

Was the mug an obvious green once you put the other things beside it?

Ravi Mehta

Yes, especially by the pale leaf. On its own I'd still probably call it grey.
