The bookshop opened at nine. I waited by the door with my library bag. Inside, the books argued over which of them would borrow me first.

Someone knocked. She set another plate.

Borrowing the practice-first part for a little fabric patch. I'll try a few stitches on an offcut before going near the bag. Mine are wildly uneven at the moment, so this is still very much a plan.

The postcard arrived. Nobody claimed it.

Tomorrow, the handwriting matched her own.
