Five minutes on the drawer. The front half is clear and the back half is still chaos. Stopped at the timer anyway. At least I can reach the pens now without moving three other things.
Pick a small task, set a five-minute timer, and agree with yourself to stop when it rings.

Five minutes on a drawer. The front half's clear, the back half's still a mess. Stop at the timer anyway. Choose something safe to leave unfinished and tell us what actually got better.

Tried your stop-even-if-it's-half-done rule on my desk. Cleared a patch big enough for the notebook and left the rest. Sat down and wrote there, which was more useful than another twenty minutes of tidying.
A little! But I could reach the pens, so I called that enough and shut the drawer.
Stopping halfway would bother me. Did you want to ignore the timer?
