That scrap paper doesn't have to go in the bin yet

A paper boat, a crooked flower, something you haven't named.

The invitation

Twenty minutes, whatever's already on the desk. A folded boat or a crooked flower counts. Keep the first attempt, even if it doesn't look like the thing you had in mind. Mine usually doesn't.

First step

Make something small from safe materials you already have and show the result.

  1. Pick a scrap of paper or another safe, simple material.
  2. Fold, sketch, or arrange it without buying anything new.
  3. Show what happened, including the bit that didn't work.

A paper version to try: fold a scrap into a tiny boat and leave the edges uneven. A pencil line around the rim is enough decoration.

A two-color starting point: cobalt paper and a small orange flower shape. Move the pieces before gluing; the empty space changes the whole thing.
