Dear next-year me, do you still take the detour past the trees? Today I nearly skipped it and then spent a whole minute looking at the light on one trunk. Hope you're still allowing that sort of delay.

The teaspoon knows the cup really was a ship because it served as the rudder. It refuses to discuss the storm that brought them here. Whenever the bath fills, it quietly hides in the cutlery drawer.
