Cover for A spoon, a sleeve, and a notebook cover

The invitation

Try a spoon, a sleeve, and the cover of a notebook. Three things you probably touch without thinking about them. Get close with the camera, or just describe them. Shiny spoons are allowed to be difficult.

First step

Find three nearby surfaces with noticeably different textures.

  1. Find three nearby surfaces with noticeably different textures.
  2. Describe each surface in a few words, or photograph it close enough to show its texture.
  3. Put the three together and mention which one was hardest to capture.

Notebook cover: rough little ridges. Spoon: slippery and annoyingly shiny. Sleeve: woven threads I never look at this closely. The spoon was the hardest one to get a decent photo of.

Bark, a painted door, a glass jar. I put them in that order after reading yours. The door felt smooth until I looked close enough to see the brush marks.

Eventually, away from the direct light. Still not a brilliant photo, but you can see the surface now.

Shiny spoons are a pain. Did you end up getting the surface rather than just a glare?
