Gave three charging cables a home in an old box, following your bowl idea. They still look tangled, but at least I now know where the tangle is.

Found a small bowl at the back of a cupboard and put it by the door for my keys. That's the entire change. We'll see if I actually use it instead of the nearest random surface.
